file upload script help - 5/4/2008 22:58:35
I'm designing a section of my sight to allow users to upload files to share in a resource pool. What i would like is for them to select the file and then it uploads into a specified folder and notifies me, then I can view, approve and post their file in the appropriate place on the site.

I've tried frontpage's file upload form, even though it only works in IE, and I get a "Frontpage Error" when i use it. (But the file actually uploads!!) Anyway, I would like something a little nicer, like with a progress bar, and also one that will work on all browsers. I've tried a ton of different scripts and can't get anywhere. No PHP scripts seem to work right in Frontpage and ASPs always give an error too.

Has anyone crossed this bridge before or have any advice? Any good scripts i should try, and good directions to go along? and do i need to contact godaddy (my host) to do something to allow access for uploading onto the server?

thanks so much!

PHP scripts seem to handle that problem best. Do a Google search on 'file upload script'.

Not sure if those scripts will notify you when someone uploads a file but you could look for that feature.

You could just put a email link on the file upload page and have your upload person send you a email upon completion of the file upload. You know, just a "Click here to notify john doe that a file has been uploaded."
