Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005 - 5/5/2008 17:27:43
I'm using the Spooky database. When I try to login I get this error.

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

Unspecified error

/login/includes/a_general.asp, line 30

Does any one know what it means. I have made no changes to the website. It was working fine earlier today

Its a fairly generic error that can be hard to track :

In the first instance, can you compact and repair the database? (you need to download it to do it)

They finally fixed the problem. Is there some thing I can do to prevent this? I didn't make any changes to the website before this happened. They make it sound like it's my problem. Maybe it is. I really don't know what their talking about.

Here is their reply.

We have reset IIS for your domain and it is now working without issue. A possible cause for this error would be that the connections strings in your code are not being closed as soon as you are done with them in your code. Please check to make sure that all connection strings are closing. If you have any other issues please don't hesitate to contact us.

Thanks

Mike

Thats pretty much the standard response from a host :)
The connections are closed, however as that link demonstrates there are many other possibilities.
I do recommend using SQL server or MySQL if possible to prevent any Access related issues
