Hi Folks,

Anybody had success finding consistent content writers? Some think their pen/keypad oozes gold worthy of a Pulitzer and others simply can't write. I have used Helium, and a few other "writer resources" but I can't find people who are really prepared to partner up and take ownership of the sites content, (for a fee I am more the willing to pay of course)

Money is not the issue. It is simply finding people who love the subject matter and paying them to write without me telling them everything they should write about. I get very blank responses when I tell the writers who supposedly love the subject that they cannot write to much content.

Thanks
Barry

I have found a few on Digitalpoint - you really have to watch for quality. I know of a published writer that goes for $0.14 per word.

What subject matter are we talking about?
Specific to one site and in one area of expertise or all over the place for lots of different sites?

Thanks Mojo - I will check them out

Jaybee - Specific stuff. For instance if I have a cient that really can't write the filler content for his site but is willing to pay to have an expert craft the content.

Another example is content for blogs, marketing material, etc.

You can find a large group of folks on Helium but the process is a bit combersome and I really don't know if you can get exclusive stuff.

content for blogs

I thought blogs were supposed to be personal or if corporate; written by someone inside the company.

Most blogs are pretty boring anyway but who wants to read one that's ghost written?

I enjoyed following this thread. I learn more about our business here.

Hey Donkey,

My experience with blogs is after I set them up people don't stick with consistanly writing. If you find someone that loves the subject matter, I have worked it out that they write as a "content expert" about that subject and the client can decide what they want to use. Ultimately I connect the client with them directly.

Some subject matters have lots of people willing to write (web 2.0, book writing) but try to find someone for nanotechnology [&:]. The biggest problem is finding someone you can trust that really reseached and created original content versus scraping from another site.

If they're that interested in such a niche subject they'll have their own blog. You'll either end up with duplicate content or they'll dumb it down.

Jaybee,

I would tend to agree. But I have found a few writers that simply want to get their name out in the marketplace by being "published". Ultimately they tend to end up at one of the article farms.

But I have also found some very very knowledgeable writers who simply have no time, product, service, or desire to have their own blog, or website. They just love the subject and are willing to take money to write about something they love.

In some of the relationships I have put together (web owner & writer) the writer is not anonymous. The site owner has a product or service to offer and no writing skills (or time). The writer has industry knowledge, time and writing skills and is willing to offer it for a fee. It makes a perfect relationship for unique content.

My problem is replicating this setup![:(]

PS: Craigslist gets you a bunch of junk replys

There must be thousands out there who watched Stargate and Red Dwarf and could probably bluff their way through it. [:D]

My other half could do the Star Trek version. [:D]

There are hundreds of content writers on DigitalPoint. A good writer can write about anything if you give her good material.

Interesting Post this.

My neice is an English Graduate and recently asked me about getting into content writing. She's very good too. I'll pass you her email if you want to give her a try.

Getting content writers who will offer quality write ups is not an easy job and it's always better to begin small before handing a bulk project to someone who delivers crap.
