SerenityNet -> Error - There is already an FTP request in progress on this session (5/21/2008 2:40:20)

I'm brand new to Expressions Web. I've set up a remote site via FTP (as I would have done in FP). However whenever I try to download or sync a large number of files then after awhile I will receive the error, "There is already an FTP request in progress on this session.". I thought about trying to change my connection type to 'active', but for the life of me I can't find how to do it. Searching help for 'ftp connection mode' gets me nothing (although that's what another help screen told me to find).
Any ideas on what I should do to cure the problem?
