Windows woes - 5/28/2008 9:53:51
A friend of mines PC crashed and he can't even reload windows. Problem is he didn't back-up the hard drive. Any ideas on how to get to the data on the cheap?

Regards!
Rich

Try setting it up as a slave on another machine. As long as it wasn't a head crash you might be able to get some of the stuff off.

Good catch by jaybee :)

This approach actually worked for me (many years back with a lemon Gateway and before Acronis). I was only interested in my recovering my files (which I did) - programs can be reloaded easily and the operating system is always resident on a replacement machine.

1. Thanks for the input.

My buddy called his office told them to come fix it. Then he cracked open the mac power book and used its version of windows to finnish the project. Its a hell of a thing when you have to open a mac to finnish a windows project.
