Fav Icon - 6/5/2008 10:29:46
I put a fav icon on this site. It shows up in Firefox but not in IE or Netscape. Here's the line I have in the head section. <link rel="shortcut icon" href="../favicon.ico" /> Any suggestions?

Internet Explorer supports favicons since version 5.0. It is actually quite hard to make IE show the favicon. If the icon is not showing, try one of the following: Add the page to your favorites. If you already have the page in your favorites folder, remove it and add it again. Make sure, the icon file is called favicon.ico and it is placed in the root folder of your web server. Make sure, the path to the favicon in the header of your page is absolute, not relative. Delete your temporary internet files. If the folder with temporary files has reached its maximum, the favicon may not be used. Wouldn't worry too much about Netscape as they quit producing new versions and will soon be obsolete

Shows up for me in IE7. Sometimes you need to pull at the e icon in IE to get the favicon to appear (literally - with the mouse). It's just the way IE is I'm afraid.

Well as long as it's showing up for someone out there. I'm glad to hear about that.

Shows up for me also in IE 7 Same here. Favicon looks like a red colored light bulb tilted to the left approximately 20 degrees. p.s. If the "Ring Girl" put on black horn rim glasses she would look for all the world like Tina Fey.
