Calculating market shares in access - 6/7/2008 8:57:10
Hi, I am relatively new to Microsoft access.

I am doing a dissertation on the airline industry. I have a database of all domestic flights in the US for each quarter. I would like to calculate the market shares (using passenger numbers) of various airlines for each unique route. Could anyone shed any light on how to do this? I also need to caculate the passenger weighted average market fare for each unique route and airline. The fields in my database include origin, destination, quarter, airline company, passenger numbers and market fare.

Thanks in advance

Personally I would put all the data into Excel and do the calculations. I assume that when you are calculating market share you are finding the percentage of the total that each airline has.

A pivot table would be my choice for a solution.

Do you really need this done with asp?
