Perhaps someone can help me with a little annoyance. I always run a second monitor with my laptop. My laptop sits to the right and the monitor to the left. Whenever I boot up the laptop, the display settings default to the monitor on the right instead of the left. Obviously it only takes a few seconds to change the display settings back, but was wondering if anyone knew of a way I can get these setting to stick.

have you tried putting the laptop to the left? :)

I'm running two monitors so possibly the following will help: >>right click empty desktop space >> Properties >>Settings. You should see two blue boxes identified by the numbers one and two. The highlited blue box is the default box. Chosing the other, disregarding the numbers, will reverse the left to right order in which they display. The task bar icons will, however, follow the default display.

Hope this helps [&:]

Thanks Larry. I will consider that, but like you said, the icons follow and I really don't want that. I have attached a screencapture to illustrate my problem. In the screen shot you will see that Monitor 2 is on the right. I can drag and drop it to the left of #1 and click OK and that works. However, the setting is lost once I turn the machine off and back on. I would think there should be a registry setting or something that would tell the machine that the primary monitor should always be on the right.
