swish newbie question - 12/11/2001 9:46:57

I've just tried creating my first swish animation, followed the instructions for inserting it into a web page, and took a look at what I've got.

My only problem (apart from the fact that it really shows that this is a first attempt) is that I can't figure out how to stop the animation from looping constantly. I'd like it to run once and then disappear. I'm sure there must be an easy way to do that, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

This is set before you save the swish. In 1.5 there's a checkbox under the Export tab. I don't have version 2 handy, but look for something similar.

There is a setting in Swish that allows you to choose between looping and run once. It's set during the conversion process to a "swf" file. In Dreamweaver, you use the "insert Flash" process, and the setting is 6 set then, not in Swish.

BTW, get Swish 2.0. It's WAY bettetr than 1.5, and just about eliminates the need for Macromedia Flash... It does about 80% of everything Flash does.

Hi all.

I would just like to add a question to this one.

If they don''t have flash viewer installed, is there anything i can do so that the viewer does not see a blank page.

Hi

When developing site that use plugins, you should ALWAYS have a section of your site which invites people download the plugin, or, to upgrade their browser. I think you can embed a link which can redirect the users browser, if they do not have the required plugin.

For your refence, the url for the Flash Player plugin is :

Programming today, is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better 'idiot-proof' programs, and the Universe, trying to produce bigger and better idiots....So far, the Universe seems to be winning.
