.html - 6/17/2008 6:38:35
Hello there, when i upload my website my pages need .html at the end for them to load. e.g. www.leesce.com/contactus.html www.leesce.com/contactus wont work. I never added .html at any time, i just save them as aboutus in this occasion and go to file, publish and it saves

I don't see what the problem is: FrontPage assigns the correct suffix as Tailslide commented. When published your host can process a suffix server heirarchy change from .htm to .html (Outfront does this) but the pages display as designed. Whenever I see a url such as www.somesite.com/aboutus it means aboutus is a subweb. Yes, you could have a url like this but, in the design approach to www.leesce.com/ it shouldn't be necessary or even desirable.

Well then you need to set up a sub directory called multimedia (maybe Frontpage calls them subwebs?) and have the actual page as index.html within that directory. You could probably add something into the .htaccess file to simulate this - but because you use FrontPage this may well bork the extensions as so is best avoided.

quote:
want this directory www.leesce.com/downloads/multimedia The way this address line reads is a subweb of a subweb which means three separate sites to eliminate the .html in the address line which is more trouble than it's worth (unless you don't have a life) and few visitors pay attention to in any case. Sure, USAtoday.com, for example, does it this way but they probably have 200 people or so in 30 departments or so working (and publishing separately) 24/7. Tailslide made a good point about FrontPage extensions; make sure your host (1) can accomodate subwebs and (2) if so, will the CPanel FPSE command migrate automatically from the primary web to all subwebs.

By naming your page index.htm or index.html. But you need to be very careful when doing this as you can easily save that new index page in the wrong directory and wipe out your home page. Every directly could have its own index.htm page and for security reasons it is a good idea to do that anyway.
