Hello,

I'm using a modified version of the Hot Stuff theme which I downloaded from this site.

There is a built-in horizontal navigation bar at the top of the page, inside a white box. At this time, there are enough links in the box that, depending on the screen resolution, the links wrap to the second line.

In Firefox, the navigation links do NOT wrap properly (as shown below).

When looking at the view source, a friend of mine noticed that there is a '<nobr>' in the code that seems to be causing this, however, when I look at the code view in Frontpage, that tag isn't present (likely due to the fact that it's a built in navigation and the code she sees is generated).

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how I would fix this?

Larry M., yes, I followed the readme instructions; these are text based links, only; no graphics involved.

It's likely that the links simply fit into your current resolution.

I am currently at 1024 x 768 (smaller monitor though) and, while it looks fine in IE, Mozilla (Firefox specifically) results in the single line you saw above.

If you minimize the window you'll probably see what I'm seeing. I have had others confirm this on other machines and it is definitely an issue.

Several of the people that utilize my free graphic services on a consistant basis use Firefox.

Thank you for the suggestions, but I am capable of customizing it on my own. I'm really looking for an actual solution to the issue (rather than "Just don't use firefox" or "Don't worry about it").

If anyone knows a workaround or solution for this, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

EDIT: For the moment, I've changed the links to plain text based, rather than a auto nav bar, but I have left a test page up so that anyone checking out this thread for themselves can see the issue in question:

Frankly, I don't care whether you take offense or not.

First of all, Mozilla is NOT a browser (as you have stated here that it is); it is actually a collective suite of software that includes several browsers.

The browser I was discussing was Firefox, which is one of the browsers manufactured by Mozilla. Since this was the browser I was discussing (although I did revert to calling Mozilla in one post, assuming that since I'd already specified Firefox, that it wouldn't be a big deal), I assumed that's what you meant.

If I was incorrect, I apologize for ignoring your glaring mistake and assuming that you meant the singular browser that I was discussing and not the suite as a whole. Next time, I'll be sure to point out your error to everyone, just to clarify.

In either case, your answers, which were to either change code that isn't actually causing the issue (because this is NOT the css or template code; it is the code generated by the FP software when the page is viewed), or to simply ignore the fact that anyone using the browser will have an issue, are NOT the answers I am looking for.

If you cannot be helpful, I fully invite you to move on and allow someone else to answer the question.

I know you're right about that and I appreciate you offering suggestions even if they weren't the answer I was looking for.

In all honesty, there may not even BE an answer... if there is, though, I'd like to hear it.

For the moment, I just have to put up with plain old text links... Luckily, the floating nav on the side works like a charm, and that's the one I was more concerned about.

Again, I don't really care if you found one post better than another, or whether your unkind post was simply entertainment for you or actual offense. When you decided to post politely, I returned the favor. That's all.

Regardless of your post count in the community, nothing gives you the right to be insulting towards anyone else, particularly when you drew attention to your own mistake (and one that didn't really need to be brought out) for no reason other than to troll. Being a Veteran Poster doesn't give you automatic permission to be rude to the newer people for your own entertainment.


I may consider contacting them, but as I said, the code in question isn't a code that was written in by them or anywhere in the template. The issue is being caused by code that FP is adding in when the site navigation is generated upon viewing. I think the best way is some kind of override code. I will keep it in mind, though, if nothing else seems to come about.

I also read somewhere that it can be edited in Notepad and reuploaded as a site via FTP, but as soon as you open FP to edit the page, again, the tag will return.

For what it's worth, I've had similar issues and end up testing what I've done with both IE and FF to make sure I don't have overlapping text (never overlaps in IE, but does in FF). I've been told that the latest FP (Expression Web) has fixed that particular problem. I'm having problems with emailing form results as well - works great with IE and presents just a blank email in FF. I just put a note on the online forms to use IE and that a solution was being investigated.

Thanks, kenrg, I'll keep that in mind. I've thought about upgrading to Expression Web but haven't heard enough about it, yet, or had a chance to do any of my own research.

Tailslide, thank you, but I'm not using a form. It's a built in navigation system available in Frontpage, which is nice, since I'm not a coder.
