Must an Access database being used in a Frontpage website reside within the Web folder or can it be accessed from the folder where I store all my .mdb s. When I try to use th DRZ, the only option seems to be to make a connection within the current Web Folder. I need to be able to add records to the database (not from user forms but from data I enter myself) and then have this new data show up on the web site when it is viewed on line. If it does have to reside in the Web Folder, can I use Microsoft Access as I normally would to enter new data with forms I have within that database. Thanks

Ideally it will reside in the default folder, which is /fpdb/

The reason for this, is that a connection is made for you so it is easily used with the DRW.

If you want to place it elsewhere, youll need to enter a custom connection string via the FP > tools > web setting optiones.

Why not just take advantage of the form entry and use that to update your database? Just don't add the form to your navigation. You can type the full url of the form page to access it.

Good luck

Swirl,
I appreciate the advise regarding entering records in the database via a frontpage form. But if I am only interested in a user viewing the data that I enter (not user originated) why go through the extra steps of creating an entry form in Frontpage when it would be much more direct to enter the data via Access directly, which has better form capabilities?
Am I missing something.

TM, thats a fine way of doing it, especially if users arent updating it.
If they are (online) then there will be concurrency issues with the old and new copies.
It just means you need to up/download it all the time :)
