Publishing My Web Issue - 6/27/2008 9:54:52
I've been a long time user of FrontPage, and was forced to finally (5 years late) upgrade to FP 2003. While I've been able to work my way through everything, the one issue I haven't been able to figure out is actually publishing the site.

I have all my various sites in MyDocuments/MyWebs as usual. I just built a new site and went to publish it, and FP2003 insists on publishing EVERYTHING...not just the web I just built, but all 30+ webs! What a mess! I've tried setting it to just publish only pages that have been changed, and it still does everything in the MyWebs folder. I never had this issue with the old FP...so obviously I am missing something.

Any suggestions? I guess this makes me a FP newbie all over again :) Thanks for the any help.

FrontPage sites have to be developed & published individually. Example of typical path statements are: MyDocuments/MyWebs/Site One and MyDocuments/MyWebs/Site Two, etc.

Have no idea why a previous version of FrontPage gave you no problems in this regard - doesn't square with my experience with 98, 2000 or 2002:)

Bryce, my story is very similar to yours. I've been using FP 2002 all these years, thought about going to Expressions Web 2.0, downloaded it, then decided I didn't want to put the time into learning it right now. But, research shows me that the layered tables will be a huge advantage in FP 2003, which is to be delivered to me tomorrow. I will watch for answers to your questions, and will be posting some of my own. I only have one site, but it has lots and lots of pages, and lots and lots of photos. That will be a big part of my questions and challenge.
Good luck to us both!

All site files from previous versions of FrontPage are forward compatible to Version 2003.

My suggestion is to (1) open your site in FrontPage 2003, (2) publish, then (3) rename/open/publish the same site as a subweb so you can experiment with layered tables without compromising the good site.

Yikes. Flat tables are bad enough.

SueZQ: do you mean nested tables or tables in layers?!
