Footer misbehaving in Firefox - 7/5/2008 12:37:16
Using FP2003.
I'd be grateful for advice on my footer http://redhunter.com/cmy/
When the browser font size is increased, the footer should stay below the text. Internet Explorer is OK. But in Firefox the footer is locked and the larger text drops down past the footer.
It's driving me crazy!
My site is old and patched together so apologies for many errors in coding.

Guessing it's because you've set a height on one of the divs - probably the content. Firefox is correctly, sticking to that height whereas IE ignores it.

Personally I wouldn't have a height on a content div. If you absolutely must then have the height in a IE conditional stylesheet as IE ignores height anyway (it expands with content). In the main stylesheet have min-height instead - that way modern browsers such as FF will expand too.

Thanks so much! I spent ages peering at the code, couldn't see the error. My site is years overdue for revamp but it's working (more or less) and I'm afraid to rock the boat.
I am using FP2003. I read recently that MS is discontinuing support for "Includes" what will I do then for headers and footers? Should I upgrade to Impressions?

MS is not dropping support for Includes but they are no longer updating the Extensions. As includes don't rely on extensions they are not affected. As long as your host continues to offer FP extensions there is no rush, but you may want to investigate other applications including Expressions just to keep up to date. Likewise it would benefit you to learn about other methods of using included content like SSI (server side includes) - have a look at the Frontpage tutorials on this site (thin blue bar at the top of this page). You will find advice for using FP without extensions- if that becomes necessary.

Thank goodness! I should have realised, because my Includes still work although I've had to use FTP upload recently.
I didn't have forms, search etc. which I understand rely on Extensions. I do miss being able to edit my remote site. However, it seems pointless to look for another host if Extensions are being abandoned.
Thanks for the pointers to Expressions, Tutorials, SSIs etc., must get my brain in gear. :-)
