Used DRW in Expression Web, Now Major Db Application Pr... - 7/17/2008 15:33:39
A few weeks ago, I downloaded a trial version of Microsoft Expression Web 2 and began working on my already existing websites with it. Those websites were built with FP 2003, with the assitance of FP 2002 which was needed to recreate _fp include files so database regions would display without error. Now that I have installed Expression Web 2, and modified one of my database results regions... this is happening: The website will display database results without error for a while (maybe 5 minutes, maybe an hour). Then, all of a suddent, the DRW error below: Database Results Error The database connection named 'forum' is undefined. This problem can occur if: * the connection has been removed from the web * the file 'global.asa' is missing or contains errors * the root folder does not have Scripting permissions enabled * the web is not marked as an Application Root The site IS an application root with scripting enabled. The connection does exist and the global.asa is not missing. After 2 days of working with my web host and trying different things, we were able to determine that simply opening and saving the global.asa file fixed the issue. Until it occurs again in another five minutes or so. This leads me to believe that, for some reason, the database application stops seeing, or can't access, the global.asa, and opeing and saving it makes it visible to the application again. If that is the case, why does it stop seeing it? If anyone has any ideas on this, please share. I have spent 6 years building this website and was just getting ready to do a big launch to advertisers. I will be heartbroken if I have to recreate all of these database applications. Thanks all. Here's the site: www.WhatsUpGreenville.com... the database apps may, or may not, be working if you visit.
