Mane Posts: 94 Joined: 7/7/2005 Status: offline	Trojan Horse False Alarm? - 7/18/2008 9:41:37 Yesterday my anti-virus (AVG Free 8.0.136) told me that there was a 'Trojan Horse Generic10.BDRL' at C:\hp\recovery\wizard\SWR_Wizard.exe on my HP Pavilion computer (part of what I believe is some sort of software repair software that comes with the computer that I never used), in a folder that hasn't been modified in over two years. Looking at the AV history now I see AVG also spotted the same type of virus in C:\System Volume Information\_restore{bunchofhex}\randomcharacters\otherhex.exe (which it didn't feel it had to inform me about, evidently) I 'quarantined' the file, but is it possible there was actually a virus there or can AV software make mistakes like that with my system recovery software?

The security experts I know who use AVG have all gone back to the previous version. It is reporting Spybot S&D files as being trojans, and one of the guys actually got a trojan shortly after he upgraded. So, you MAY have a trojan or you may not.
