Header help - 8/5/2008 5:19:44
Hello :),

I am in need of help, i am a newbie in graphic designing. I need to make a header for my website ( http://seemas-pk.com ), I have a transparent logo i need to put on the header. As simple as that, i use MS PAINT for that :S and i have no Good Image Editor for that. Can anyone help me making this header. I bet for designers like you here its as simple as ABC. And also tell me a really good FREEWARE Image Editor used for headers etc.

1st Upload: Header http://seemas-pk.com/help/header.jpg
2nd Upload: The logo to be placed on the header, i dont mind the color.. I just want the graphics to match with no untidyness. Black/White or White/Black it doesnt matter =) http://seemas-pk.com/help/logo.jpg

like this http://pp.kpnet.fi/prescott/stuff/seemas/ ?
i did 3 variations for you: a straightforward like yours, a second with a drop shadow on the text, and a third with a shadow on all parts. personally i think the one with the text shadow looks possibly better as it lifts the text a little from the needle and thread
(i 'threaded' your needle too if that's ok ;)

black/white looked a little harsh so i went with white and a shade of the header brown ;)

EDIT: what font is the "devoted to customers satisfaction" in? /edit

this is good and free http://www.gimp.org/ but there's quite a learning curve if you've only used paint ;) i'm use to lots of graphics apps but i find the gimp a bit hard going at times :)

i'm sure there was someone somewhere who suggested some good software for what you want. wait a little whie and i'm sure some more suggestions come in.

the problem with the logo is that jpeg doesn't contain transparency so although you had a white background it wasn't transparent.
what i did was a combination of tracing/drawing the thread and needle with the pen tool, and then using the magic wand tool to select the logo text before converting it to a path.
anyway hope that helps and just post back here or pm if you need any amendments to the header :)
