Shopping cart/server errors - 8/21/2008 11:09:18
We use the upload feature on the back end of our able commerce shopping cart to display products on our website. It's a two part process- 1. Upload pic to server 2.Click "use this image button" to display on the website. Almost every time we click "use this image" we get the strangest error messages...It says "debug", which takes us to visual basic on the SERVER...yet the programmers say it is not the server, it is on our end. They say this because that error message only happpens on this one computer. Use another computer and everything is fine. I can't expect from this info that anyone can solve the whole problem, nor do I have the space or time to describe what the IT specialist and I have tried so far.. BUT....I have a hunch...and I'd like to know if anyone's heard of this before- That computer, a year old beefed up Dell with XP Professional, doesn't have any Microsoft Office products- No Word, Excel, or Outlook. How much do these programs paly a role in "communicating" with a host server? Can the absence of Microsoft Office software cause havoc? thank you!

Are you using Internet Explorer as the browser? Is that where the messages are being displayed? Or is there a new program that opens to debug the script?

I am using internet explorer, but another program opens to "debug" the code on the host server. When I use Firefox, I don't get an error message, but the same process often "freezes" the computer. The more I think about it, the more i think it IS our host server, despite them insisting it is not. This is because a different computer ran into the same exact problem today. Oy kavult, or aye caramba, whichever you prefer.

If there is a javascript error on the web page, IE will open up a dialog window that says something like this: "ERROR - do want to debug this...." Don't remember the exact words but there is a switch in IE to stop that.

Depending on your version of ie: Tools>>Internet Options>>Advanced>> Check-Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) Check-Disable script debugging (other) Un-Check--Display a notification about every script error
