Blocking Sound - 8/25/2008 5:46:50
Can anyone tell me if there is a way of blocking sound from playing on a page? I'm putting together a sort of promotional site for a skateboarder with links to YouTube clips within the page. A couple of the clips the language is a little on the colourful side!! I'd like viewers to be able to see the videos but to block the sound from being played, is there some bit of coding I can use to achieve this. Each video is going to open in a new window. Thanks for any help offered in advance.

Not that I'm aware of. You Tube Videos are recorded with sound and the only way would be if there was a switch you could put on the link to start with sound off. I don't think there is one but if I'm wrong hopefully someone will post it.

The only way round it is to re-record the thing as per the instructions in this link but you're then dealing with copyright issues and you'd need to contact the owner. If you're going to do that then you might just as well ask them if they could send you a sound free version.

Thanks Jaybee, but Audacity only seems to do the sound, possibly I need to look a little closer. Or possibly, like you say, I need to get my hands on the original. Oh why do 14 yr olds have to swear when the do some amazing trick on the skateboard, it makes my life so difficult!!!! Thanks again.
