Google reverted to old meta description - 9/18/2008 17:29:46
Strange. I changed our meta description last week. After a few days, the description appeared in our Google listings.

However, sometime today Google began displaying our old meta description, which isn't even present in our code when I go to view>source. Only the new description is in the meta name = "description" tags.

Does anyone know what' s going on?

Google has multiple data centers that serve up search results. These different data centers are usually not in sync with each other due to various reasons. It sounds like you are being served from a data center that hasn't been updated. I wouldn't worry about it. It should be rolled out within a couple of weeks.

Thank you, Mojo. This seems to have been the case, because it is now showing the new meta description no matter what location I google my site from.

Mystery solved!
