Scotty -> PayPal and Google Checkout (12/5/2008 14:37:32)

We currently accept Visa/MC/Discover...and moving toward AmEx.
Anyone also accept PayPal and Google Checkout payments? Did you see an uptick in sales? One better than the other.
Would you bother if you already had the basic credit cards?
Regards, Scotty

Anyone suggest a different site to post this sort of Question?

We've done all of these and more for different clients. Different solutions for different situations.

Sitepoint is also quite good - lots of ecommerce experience there.

Paypal could be good depending on your customers. And even some merchant account providers are now offering Paypal and GoogleCheckout in their plans.

1 benefit of using Google Checkout is that you can display the Google Checkout logo on your adwords ads. My understanding is that this often boosts clicktrhu rates quite significantly.

I started allowing my clients to pay with PayPal a number of years ago because some clients were asking for that. It's such a low percentage of my sales that it's almost imperceptible, but I find it handy to have a Paypal account sometimes.
