Bad, bad traffic company - 12/12/2008 18:26:07
Has anyone heard of ClickMyBux.com? They pay people to "surf" the web, and they must stay on each site for at least 30 seconds. Then they charge websites for the "traffic". For some reason, they chose us as their reading glass company. I never signed up for anything. But all this traffic is hogging up our bandwith. That site has sent more people to our site this month than Google!!!! It's a complete copyright infringement, as they took the code of our website and display it on theirs, links and all. I can't get in touch with them. And our webmaster is trying to "block" referrals from any one of their dozens of rotating IP addresses. so shady! Has anyone had to deal with a problem like this? I'm afraid we're going to be penalized from such junky traffic. The hits are from places like African countries, and Argentenia. Help!

ClickMyBux.com Many of these companies are in business under one name for a while and then move on taking money and not paying out. There is a whole breed of "Instant Payout Paid-to-click" sites. Some of these are related and some aren't but I can't figure out who is who (and don't much care): CrewBux, DingoBux, BuxOut, ThinkBux, SmithBux, 07Bux, GaborBux, NeoBux, OsoBux, SandraClicks, DailyClicks, and on and on..... I've never heard of someone in your situation, though. Try to track down their ISP and get them blacklisted.

I don't get it... unless you are paying them, why are they sending you traffic? Having a site copied has been popular for years. I used to struggle with a few Chinese outfits that would swipe entire sites word for word.

I know, Mojo, I don't understand why they would send traffic to our site. Someone suggested our server company had a deal with them; Increase our server traffic, increase the amount we pay them. But we have a good relationship with our programmers, and I know they wouldn't do that. My guess is they added us as their "eyewear company" in hopes we'd sign up once we saw how much traffic they sent us. Regardless of the reason, they stopped. I dug up their phone # on a forum. (It was not listed on their website~ sleazy!) Then I called relentlessly for hours. I threatened not only a lawsuit for copyright infrigement, but also to recoup damages incurred by the extra server traffic. I got laryngitis I left so many messages, on what sounded like someone's personal cell phone #. But by Monday, we were pulled from their website. Anyway, as usual, I appreciate the support and feedback I get on this forum. :)Falala

Maybe you should post that phone number here for future reference.

I don't know the legalities of posting someone's cell phone # on the internet. So as much as I want to, I won't do this. But if anyone has any problems with this company, i will tell you where to find it!
