Cannot run the FrontPage Server Extensions on this page - 1/15/2009 12:10:52
Hi all, Sorry for having to post a rubbish question, but I am stuck with this problem and don't know how to fix it. I have an enquiry form on a new site that I am developing for a part of my business. However after pressing submit I keeping getting this error: Cannot run the FrontPage Server Extensions on this page: "http://www.photoreverie.com/contact.html" I am not saving the results on the server, they are just supposed to be emailed to me. All searches if have done for this error normally say about checking the text file where the results are saved. However, I am not saving the results. Help! Many thanks Lee p.s. I have done this before on another site of mine www.lee-marshall.eu/contact.html using the exact same settings and it works perfectly.

Well you have a lot going on with that page. Lots of JavaScript, some stuff that you copied from Word or other MS product (the styles). I would back up that page for now and create another page like it without the JavaScript stuff and just see if the contact form will work. Also that page has about 5 inches of horizontal scroll for me.

Has FrontPage Server Extensions always worked on the form? Create another form - very simple - with one input and have it emailed to your email address. If that works, this will help to know if it is the form or FPSE that is causing the problem. Re: the JavaScript (speaking of, isn't the Google Analytics script supposed to be in the <body>)?

I have just created a very simple form on a new page and am still getting the same error. I will get the FPSE reinstalled to see if that helps. Thanks!

Open the website via FrontPage (File - Open Web - http://www.example.com). Once this is done, go to Tools - Server. Now you can check FPSE / repair it. But the code in the testpage - is that email valid? Did you just start having problems? Also, you are working locally and publishing to the http://www.example.com and not using FTP or working on the server?

OK, went to Tools - Server (first time for me) but couldn't see how to check/repair FPSE. What do I need to do? Yes it is a valid email. This is a new site, so yes. I am working locally then publishing via Frontpage not FTP. Thanks for you time.

It's been a very long time since I used that feature, but FrontPage Server Extensions might help. There should be some things in that website to help you verify the extensions. Since this is a new website, you might also get the webhosting provider to check as well. And just to make sure, you're not hosted on GoDaddy, right?
