lsearle -> Expression Webs Forms stopped working on GoDaddy (1/20/2009 16:12:15)

I host six Websites built in FrontPage and Expression Webs on GoDaddy.com. I have "contact" forms on all of the sites with the responses set to go to an email address.

Last night I was working on two forms for www.eiog.org and noticed that it took several hours before I received the email response from the tests forms I filled out. I tried the contact form on the same site and haven't received a response yet. I tried all of the forms on the other sites and so far it seems that only one site works.

I called GoDaddy and when they try to complete the form at eiog.org they got promoted for a password, even though I don't have that option set, and I don't get prompted for a password.

GoDaddy asked me to uninstall FP extensions, wait 30 minutes, install FP extentions, then upload my whole site again. I did, but there was no change.

The one site that still works is www.chatthills.org.
So I copied the contact form from www.chatthills.org and saved it to a new page on eiog.org site to see if it would work. It didn't. (Both sites were created in Expression Webs).

Then I took a form from the eiog.org site and copied it to a new page on the chatthills.org site and guess what? It worked.

GoDaddy opened a ticket and said it could take up to 72 hours for a fix. They also told me that if I want tickets on the other five Websites, I need to uninstall FP extentions, install FP extentions, and upload the site -- for each and very site.

All of my forms have worked in the past and I can't for the life of me figure out what happened. The only things I recall that I've done over the past week or so is that I've encrypted my email address on the sites, which has added some java script to some pages. But I stripped that off of a form page during a test and it didn't make any difference.

To recap...
1) Here is a form page that works: http://www.chatthills.org/contact.htm

2) Here is a form page that doesn't work:
http://www.eiog.org/ed-volunteer.htm

Here is the same form in 2) that works OK when moved to the sever and Website in 1):
http://www.chatthills.org/contact2.htm

Does anyone have an idea what might be going on?

Unfortunately, GoDaddy is known to have issues with FrontPage forms. Uninstalling the FPSE, etc usually will not help in the matter. GoDaddy and FrontPage Forms might help some.

It seems the website (eiog.org) - you are not using an email associated with that domain. You might try using an email address with that domain in it instead of the earthday email address.

On the FrontPage form, I don't think you can encrypt the email address that it uses. You might be able to encrypt an e-mail address that you post but keep in mind that a FrontPage form displays the email address for all Internet users.

You might consider switching to a server side code language to process the form - this way, that email address will be hidden from the spiders
