We have anecdotal evidence when we are asked to create a local cart for our clients. The perception (and reality) is that the user is being redirected to a web site that is not the original company site (no matter how well the visuals are emulated). Users may think they are being sent to a site that will behave in a malicious way (phishing, scam, virus planting, etc.) when, in fact, it is simply a third party hosted cart. _____________________________ Follow us on TWITTER (in reply to Scotty)


Scotty Posts: 223 Status: offline	RE: shopping cart abandonment rates - 1/23/2009 15:21:07 Anecdotal is all I can find also...I've been looking for some hard stats, however the big players e.g. hosted shopping carts, aren't about to spend the effort on a survey if they're expecting bad news. Too bad they can't figure a way to keep the entire process on the local site...until after the 'Thankyou' page...then a redirect sends the information to the hosted cart. They do have lot's of free data--cart abandonment included... "Shopping Cart Abandonment New questions examining the issues surrounding shopping cart abandonment find that policy standards have not yet been established as 29 percent currently do not hold merchandise in carts, 27 percent hold it for 1-3 months, and the balance range from 30 minutes to indefinitely. Again, like TWD experience, this is anecdotal. Take from it what you will. My gut still tells me that it should make a difference and maybe it does on those large orders or lost partnership opportunities. Or maybe it just depends on the industry.
