This is a very open question that would be beyond the scope of this post to answer fully.

The short cut to traffic is a PPC program. Google and Yahoo both have something that could have you up and running very quickly. Of course, there are other advertising methods and SEO.

Hi,

PPC is the best paid way to get target traffic. And, social bookmarking and networking sites are the best ways to drive free traffic and to promote your business

Install a blog on your own .com. Create a Twitter account. Connect the RSS feed of the blog to twitterfeed. Post regularly to your blog which will then feed to twitter. It's all about content--make relevant, interesting and original posts.

Plus the thing that everyone seems to forget.

Add your web link to the footer of every email you send out.
Put it on your business cards
Make sure it's on any advertising or leaflets
and
tell people about it. Word of mouth is one of the most powerful forms of advertising and it's free.
