Error w/ forms using email after SMTP update - 2/4/2009 14:28:25
Hey guys, Just a quick question. We recently updated the SMTP in our box, and we have several apps which relied on the FPSE. All SMTP settings are correct, and new forms created after the update send e-mail correctly, however... All forms built previous to the SMTP update display a generic error, when trying to submit the form (nothing displays in the app log). Error:
FrontPage Error.
User: please report details to this site's webmaster.
Webmaster: please see the server's application event log for more details.
As for my question, is there a quick way to fix all these pages (So I don't have to go recreate everything again?). Opening a pre-update page, making a change and saving it doesn't fix it. I can't find whats different in the actual page code either. (I assume the frontpage includes need to be updated) Thanks for your help.

What did you update on the SMTP? If you changed it so you required SMTP authentication, whitelist your www server to bypass SMTP authentication. It sounds like you maybe the server admin? If so, go to the FPSE control panel and make sure the default email address that you set up is an email address on the domain. And what about the FP form itself? Is the email going to an email on that domain name or somewhere else? (try changing to an email on that domain name)

Hey, Sorry for the late reply. The updates to the SMTP were done so that the sever would email from our new domain name. It also has been whilte listed. The email is also going to the same domain. Sorry I don't have more info. Thanks

So it seems you changed domain names? If so, I understand you are using a new email address? Did you check to make sure propagation had completed? Are you the server admin as well and have access to the FPSE set-up / control panel?

PS: It does seem that it's locked to only being able to send email to the same domain, because if I use any other domains for the recipient address I get that error. Using the same domain as the server works perfectly. So, I guess this other domain must also be white-listed? Thanks for your help :)
