How to migrate FrontPage to a new server - 2/13/2009 14:51:23
We have built a new server and now want to migrate our FrontPage 2002 environment (w/ FPSEs) to the new server. We have about 25 subwebs. If we get FrontPage installed and running on the new server, is the migration as easy as just publishing the top level (doing a File / Publish Web), checking the box "Include subwebs"? Will it bring over all files and subwebs and permissions? Thanks much.

My situation(s), however, only involved a handful of subwebs not your 25 but the publishing logic should be the same regardless.

Larry, thanks. Maybe I'm missing something. We have both dev and prod environs and just as a test, I set a few permissions on a "test" subweb I have in the dev root, then I published it over to a new prod subweb, telling it to include subwebs. But after it published, I checked the permissions of the prod subweb and even a subweb under it which came over, and they both show as "Using same permissions as parent web". I was hoping the permissions would come over too.

With regards to the sub-web permissions, these are usually set up on the server right through an URL (http://www.example.com:port/fpadmdll.dll?page=fpadmin.htm). As far as I can remember - these won't transfer over. If the permissions were set up in IIS, you should be able to export that information though
