1. Make sure your website doesn't have html errors.
2. At the beggining build content, not links
3. Submit your site to dmoz.org, and related industry-specific sites.
4. Build links slowly, but increasing.
5. Don't use Blackhat tactics, (hidden text, hidden links, etc) /
6. Don't use comments in your HTML pages.
7. Don't do link exchange.
8. Don't do automatic queries.

Not true.

Not true.

LOL! So not true.

4. Build links slowly, but increasing.

Hmmm... so the spammer kind of got one almost right. In some industries getting links fast and hard is the norm.

5. Don't use Blackhat tactics, (hidden text, hidden links, etc)

Not true. There is a time and a place for techniques that are also used by blackhats. Not to mention that BH often works very well with little risk

Tailslide covered this strange line.

7. Don't do link exchange.

Not true. Link exchanges still work, but you need to make sure your making a good trade.

8. Don't do automatic queries.

Ha! I run automated queries all day long. What a duffer.

Nice job Mojo...how's your new gig working out? Like being an employee instead of a consultant?

It's a huge change. The job is great - I am treated like a consultant with a start time anytime before 11:00am and I still maintain a few large clients on the side. That said, I am working on an exit plan...

Thank you for the tips!

On #6 (Don't use comments in your HTML pages)- Does this include customer reviews on products? I've been waffling about whether to incorporate reviews into out site or not.

Also...
What does #8 automatic queries mean?

Thank you!
Falala

Deb,

The comments being referred to are not actual comments from customers or testimonials per say. They are HTML Tag comments used specifically as notes to the coder (these comments do not show on the browser page itself).

As for Thanking for the Tips, you may want to review Mojo's response to them. This post was more than likely spam.
