Weird - form sending to Gmail with other email as From ... - 3/9/2009 10:18:09
This is just weird and I can't seem to fix this. I have the form sending the results to the Gmail account. However when the email arrives in the Gmail inbox it states that it is from a different email.

For the life of me I can not figure out WHY it is doing this. I noticed something in the header that says something about an envelope sender - what is that? Do I have the form configured wrong somewhere that it is doing this or is it somewhere else along the line?

Here is an example of the header from a recent email:

The from address would normally be the base email account (for notifications) on the hosting account. It's best to have that address use the same domain as your hosting account. Otherwise, the form submission may be tagged as spam because the from address does not match the domain from which the message was sent.

Well it's not getting tagged as spam. And we don't use any emails from the hosting service with our domain name. So none of the emails are going through any of those.

From what I can tell the form is submitting it to the gmail account which is then forwarding it to the mindspring account which is then forwarding it back to the gmail account.

Here's the thing - I don't have ANY forwarding set up for either of those accounts. Nor do I have any filters that would send any form submissions anywhere.

Any ideas?

If the from address is from any domain other than yours then the host needs to fix that.
