Is there a problem with creating a fixed width site using only points to size everything except fonts in which case I use percentages?

Thought you'd said PX and I'd typed a response saying "not really as long as you're careful".

But PTs are really a no-no on the web. They're really only for print.

Use PX for widths etc if you need a stable fixed width.

Thanks Tailslide. I usually use percentages but I need a fixed width on the current project. I typed pt but I meant px. You still answered my question. I get the "stupids" quite often lately.

Be careful if you're doing a fixed design. I've just finished one that's fixed width and height, yes a graphic designer was involved, and everything has to be fixed or you end up with awful problems.

I was not planning on a fixed height. Should that not cause fewer problems?

Fixed height is a nightmare unless you've got something within it that absolutely can't change - like a photo. Jaybee's having a bad week at the hands of a Graphic Designer who doesn't understand that the web it NOT print!!

I had a client once who never shut down her computer because she did not know how.
