Mav44 Posts: 197 Joined: 6/25/2006 Status: offline	IE8 Big Problems - 3/23/2009 11:54:56 I updated my browser to IE 8 after receiving the message from Microsoft as I am sure many people did in the last week. Several of my pages look like crap as anywhere I used a table additional space has been created. For example if I have two cells on top of each other the text in the bottom cell has been pushed down with extra space. I have checked things like paragraph, padding but I still cannot get the text to top-align. Is anyone else seeing this? < Message edited by Mav44 -- 3/23/2009 23:32:43 >

IE8 is still in Beta so I wouldn't worry too much yet.. .but it's certainly worth keeping an eye on. Lots of sites are seeing problems and a temporary fix is to place this META tag in between the <head> and </head> tags on all of your pages: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" /> This will force the IE8 browser to emulate IE7 (assuming your pages looked good there). Then you will have to re-code for IE8. This isn't a good browser and doesn't live up to the many promises made before release about standards compliance. I know, why believe them at all. I have a few old sites that use javascript menu systems in layers that are now spread all over the page.
