Preview issues for website with DWT - 3/25/2009 13:52:20
Hi, I am new to this forum and I hope somebody can help me. Also I apologize if somebody already asked that question - I could not find any answer as of yet)
I am creating my second website in Frontpage (vista has issues with dreamweaver).
My first website is still up and running, but has some serious issues. A few years ago I was thrown into creating this site with no knowledge of website design. Which resulted in not using CSS or DWT and millions of unnessesary things.
This time I followed instructions on how to create a DWT and attach it to the pages to a "T".
My pages are created, linked... and changes in the DWT work perfectly - but I cannot preview my website. It is not uploaded to the server yet, but my old website I can view in the preview button on the bottom of frontpage or view in the browser without problems.
When I try to do this with my new website I get a blank page with a blue outline - and that's it.

Could anybody please tell me what I am doing wrong here?

Thank you all in advance for your help.
(sorry it got a little long)

Preview in FrontPage is neither accurate nor useful. You need to view the pages on a server. Either a hosted solution or a local server. Windows XP pro has a built-in server (although you have to enable it). I don't use Vista so I can't speak to its server (or lack thereof).

Thanks for the reply. It does have the preview button and the preview in browser option - I can see my other website without problems when I edit schedule of classes and other things.
Just this website is giving me problems. there has to be something I am doing wrong.
Thanks

No, please listen again, we've been doing this for 16 years...don't use the preveiw in FrontPage. It won't work correctly. Preview in a browser on a server.

Ok, sorry I will listen. I am just waiting for our guy to set me up on our server. Than I can see what is going on. Thanks.
