Accessible Voting Poll Script ... - 4/7/2009 5:27:04
Done a bit of searching tonight as a client wants a poll with percentage results on his website. Have come up with this one which is pretty much exactly what I want, but just wondered what everyone else is using? It must be accessible.

Errr, thanks! Okay, I'll admit that I haven't the foggiest how I'm going to accomplish this. I've been searching high and low on script sites over the past few days and am sick of it. Is anyone interested in quoting to put a simple poll question on a site for me? Make it accessible, make the styles customizable. The poll should be able to sit comfortably within the "Your Opinion" section of this page, and the results should also, i.e. even when screen resolution 800x600 is applied. Besides not quite knowing how to do this, I haven't had a lot of time on my hands lately to do web stuff, I've moved house again and where I am now is undergoing renovations - and I'm just not ready to take up web work again. Thanks in advance - Nicole

Hi Dan, This is the big thing isn't it? Well I haven't really touched anything webby for about 18 months, and don't really know what I need. I'm using a .htm extension for the page and would prefer not to change that if possible. This page (site) is still tables layout but I'm converting it bit by bit and therefore would like the poll to be accessible. Maybe you can find out the server info from the URL? - Nicole p.s. please excuse my lack of technical terms. never had them anyway and 18 months later I've forgotten any that I once knew.

http://www.who.is/whois/gendercentre.org.au/ It's on a Zeus based server, which means a *nix server, aka PHP. Only way to do it without changing the file extension is one of the following: 1) Use a Javascript Poll 2) Use .htaccess to alter the file extensions - but allow it so server side scripting can still be done Using Javascript is out of the question if you want it completely accessible. I'll have a look at using a flat file database to run it off with PHP. Only real way to make them accessible is to utilise cookies or a log in system and run it with a server side tech. You can always drop me an email if you want, with the exact specs of what you need and I'll see what I can come up with

Nicole, here is a accessible Polling Script. And some good instructions on this site on how to install it. http://www.outfront.net/tutorials_02/adv_tech/perl1.htm

Thanks Dan, Don and Jaybee. Don, I'm sure if I worked at it a while I'd figure something out, but I just don't have the time or patience right now and would rather pay somebody else to do it and then bill my client. Gio, I'll PM you! Thanks
