Repeating Letter "Y" - 4/12/2009 9:07:30
FP for some odd reason adds one, two, three or more of the letter "Y" to some words that end with the letter, "Y" (lower or upper case). So, for example, the word "only," will be changed to "onlyy" or "onlyyy." This happens with no other letter, and it happens with no other program. Crazy!

It is as if an invisible hand is on the keyboard. Typically, I work with the screen split so I can see what FP is actually doing to build my pages. And the "y's" in question are there as simple characters of text. No code nearby, nothing. And the word that is changed is always the SAME word and rarely at a place on the page where I am currently doing anything. I've deleted and retyped the word -makes no difference.

I'm working with the same basic page over and over again simply to spin up code to embed in Ebay listings. There are no real FP specific functions involved, no javacsript. I'm really just using FP as an html editor. And so, the fact that I drag out the same basic template page and revise it over and over may have something to do with this nonsense. Other than that, I'm clueless.

But now, the problem is reaching other "ending with y" words. I fix it and move on, but if I use the page again, it will be baaaaaaccckkkk. (<-Intentional extra letters, there).

Any ideas? I've searched the forums and find nothing like this.

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

Sounds like a stuck letter "y" in your key board. I would try another keyboard. You can get them at Walmart for $10.00

Actually, not. The extra "y's" appear at a location where I am NOT enterig text, and, were it a stuck key, it should happen in other programs, which it does not. Looks like folks are stumped.

Try repairing FP (from the Help menu I think) and get Frontpage Cleaner to clean out the cache on FP. It may be the split screen working is doing this, or even using a template that is getting revised over and over. In any case the FP Cleaner should help.
