Can Frontpage coexist? - 12/17/2001 14:07:06
If the hosting company adds FP 2002 extensions to your site, does this have any effect on code already existing non-FP code? (I want to be able to test FP code on the site but also keep the original stuff active until FP is checked out - sort of can I go back and forth between them?)

thanks, grandpa

AFAIK its not 'mutually exclusive'. FrontPage Webbots REQUIRE FrontPage Extensions. ASP (and plain HTML) do not. So yes, it should work and you shouldn't have any prob's.

Of course, don't trust me one bit and make a backup first...

Thanks for reply. Would a good way to pick the one executed be to keep changing the index to oldindex (or something) and keep rotating depending on which one you want executed (the FP or the html)? hope this make sense.

thanks, grandpa

So, you are going to keep the old site as is until you are ready for the launch, with the new site flowing off of newindex. Then simply re-name newindex to index. Should be OK. With some clever CSS you could also implement a whole new look by renaming a couple of files.

All this to change a number into a name...
