error: you are not authorized to view the page - 5/2/2009 13:07:56
I am currently doing a project work in ASP
The problem is,
1. i've installed IIS in a computer(has internet connection).
2.Then i typed the URL as http://localhost/ in my browser.
But the default web page(http://localhost/localstart.asp) is not displayed.
Instead it show the error message as you are not authorized to view the page .
please give me suggestions to solve this problem very seriously.

have you tried accessing it via http://127.0.0.1 ?

i tried it.
But it asks for login(username & password).After giving these details it show the same error page.
i've only administrator login.i've given name only for administrator login and not password.
thank you for responding to my query.give me some more suggestions
and help me solve this problem.

Make sure that you have set directory permissions on IIS for IUSR_your-computer-name to have access.
You do this by selecting Properties in the context menu of the relevant directory(ies) >Directory Security>Annonymous Access and authentication control>
User name: IUSR_machine name Password: xxxxxxxx
Then in the Directory tab make sure that the directory has Read, Write and Execute enabled. (I also allow Directory Browsing as this machine not open to public use but makes it easier for me to find what I'm looking for.)
