Livvin' in a small town? - 5/12/2009 0:58:17
I apologise if this is so obvious to some but I'd missed it..... I live in a small town now and had always bought the - hook line and sinker - "testimonial spiel" from the usual authorities who suggest using testimonials as somewhat of a necessity for small businesses to gain more credibility and, therefore, more website responses and therefore more "busyness". Well, imagine my dismay as my local busyness doubled when I took away all my testimonials and just put up a "list of clients" instead. Geez, sometimes I wish I'd believe less of what I read. Mea Culpa. Anyways, testimonials worked great in Seattle and Portland but here in Cannon Beach (less than 1500 full time residents) The client list - rather than the few well chosen testimonials - worked wonderfully. Admittedly, I do have to spread my wings further for bigger network jobs but, for local credibility, response and do-re-mi - the client list works for me. And, works for my clients too :) HTH. ** moderators pls. feel free to relocate this post if in the incorrect froum. thanks.

You inadvertently bring up a good point - everyone should be testing (AB testing) their Web sites to see what works best. It is not the same across all markets. Thanks for the tip! Joe
