Billy0615 -> Adding Blog to FP Site (6/5/2009 13:12:35)

I know, here we go again.

Have an FP site. Want to add a blog for Marketing purposes. Reluctant to insert WP direcory (got burned on previous attempts) Looks like hosted service (like blogger.com) will be the easiest to deal with. Understand I can link blog to & from my FP site. Any downsides?? Will activity (offsite) still register with with google & help with page placement? Anyone have experienbce here.

Thanks in advance.

ps glad I found this site. Looks great for FP info

Tell me what problems you had with using the WP directory. I am about to add WP to one of my clients sites. By the way you can also link to WP from your site so that would eliminate your install problem. WP will host your blog free that way.

If you go the install route, WordPress has a 5 minute install routine. Did you do that? Don't forget if you install it on your web you will need PHP 4.3+ and MySql 4.0+ and Apache or Litespeed server is recommended.

Plus if you have Fantastico within your web hosting admin panel you can add WordPress to whichever directory you like (e.g. www.yoursite/blog/) in about 5 seconds!

Course the alternative is to use WordPress for the whole site and dump the FP elements. I use WP for a lot of client sites - some have blogs in there too, some don't.
