Editing HTML in FrontPage 2003 - 6/10/2009 21:04:18
Hi -

My first post. So glad to find this forum! :)

I'm working in "Search Engine Optimization for Dummies." I need to change my title....that's not the issue....he says it should be the first thing under the <HEAD> tag. It would mean I have to move it up a bit. I also plan to add a couple of META tags...keywords and description. My question: Is there any problem with changing the order and moving the title? Can the other META tags go above what's there or should it be below them? I've included the current code below. Thanks in advance!

Deb

<html>

<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<!-- #BeginEditable "doctitle" -->
<title>Home</title>
<!-- #EndEditable -->
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 6.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">
</head>

FrontPage automatically puts the <meta> prior to the <title> tag. There wouldn't be any problem in moving it to re-arrange the order as you asked. I'm not sure there is much of a difference though to what order they are in. Anyone else?

Nope no difference far as I know but I've always had the title as the first thing after the head tag too.

I've got:

Doctype
<head>
<title>
<content-type>
<description>
