i'm redesigning a web site (it's recently posted as a site critique) and it supposedly has some sort of cms but i was thinking of replacing it with a browser based one so the client can change text and upload pictures. has anyone used one before or recommend one? free or say up to about 75 quid

i did google some but it's hard to tell them apart...

Snippetmaster - I use it on all my clients' sites, including my nine year old nephew's site - he thinks it's great that he can update stuff himself (and it's simple enough to use for a 9 year old to get the hang of!).

If you (or your client) needs to update text (rather than add pages etc.), Snippetmaster's ideal, and it's simply set up by just using special "tags" in the HTML which make sections of a page editable. So far I've just used the free version, as none of the sites I've used it with have needed the ability to upload photos etc., but the paid version (about $25) has the ability to upload photos. If you just need something to be able to use to edit text it's ideal. I use it now on my own sites where I just need to edit stuff just to save having to mess around with the HTML.
