IF someone quick with DBs and CSS has the time...
I don't want to put anyone out. This is something I could have done for myself three or four years ago, but slowly even then. Certainly now I'm very out of practice and it would take me way too long. For work, I would like to provide a working example of what I'm talking about - of a simple web page where the menu is somewhat dynamic and database driven. It would be very nice if the menu was CSS driven, but it's not required. It could just be a table setup. Here's what I'm looking for:
- Simple web page (see screen shots for mockup)
- Header area with a logo and DB driven menu
- Footer that goes across the entire bottom in some contrasting color
- The menu content is dependent on the login of the user
- The widths of all the menu blocks should be the same and large enough to accommodate the longest menu text
- Each menu block has a color defined (I just made up colors for this example, I didn't have a pallet.)
- If there isn't menu text then the block should just be the background color, but still show as a block (Yes, I know this stinks, but it's not my call.)
- There really isn't a max on the number of menu items possible, the screen would just make the user horizontal scroll if there are more items needed than would take to fill out to 800 wide. (But it's just for the purposes of this example, I really wouldn't make a user horizontal scroll.)
- Content to fit to an 800x600 screen
- MS Access DB and whatever code you want (ASP, Dot Net, whatever)
That's pretty much it.
If there is anyone that is really quick at something like this and would like to do it then I'd be very appreciative. But this is NOT something drop-dead. It's just that a working example sometimes goes a long way towards making a point. Of course, if there is something already out there that I can be pointed towards then that's even easier.
