hatters -> 1 item remaining (waiting for .....) (7/13/2009 10:15:25)

Why has this suddenly started appearing in the staus bar when I try to load the home page of my website? How do I find out which "item" it's waiting for?

Post a link to the website.

Ok, here it is Salobrena Holidays. Thanks for your interest.

Loaded fully when I tried

Looks good in IE8 and FF3.5.

But If your photos are not optimized for the web then your image preloader script could cause that message if you are on a dialup modem.

On broadband here so it looks OK for me.

Waiting again now! How do I find out what it's waiting for?

Either the google ads or your photos. I'll ask you again: "Did you optimize your photos for the web"? And "Are you on dialup"?

Sorry, missed your questions. I'm on Broadband 2MB. The photo's aren't optimised but they're not large. This has only started happening in the last few days I think. I'm currently changing all of the logos from remote sites to my own server to see if that helps.

Thanks for your interest.

I believe it is the addthis.com bookmarks you have near the end of the page. While it is trying to load and you are waiting, try hovering over the image for it (to access the menu). That seems to bring it in quickly when hovering the image

You are a star!! Thank you so much. I've just removed it and the page loads immediately. Thanks again.

Mike.

Glad you got it resolved. I believe that is what Don was referring to when he mentioned the Google Ads

4EY -> RE: 1 item remaining (waiting for .....) (10/22/2009 19:09:45)

Since y'all did such a great job helping hatters, can you help me solve the exact same problem?

My site is www.4ey.com

Thanks in advance!

4EY -> RE: 1 item remaining (waiting for .....) (10/22/2009 21:47:46)

Nevermind, I figured it out! There was an object (included in every page) that caused the problem:

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" height="0" width="0"></object>

Pages loaded great after the object was removed.

Mango Himself -> RE: 1 item remaining (waiting for .....) (10/23/2009 15:03:12)

Hi

just wondering, would you have something available in Spain that is weelchair accessible?

hatters -> RE: Wheelchair access (11/13/2009 6:38:42)

Oops, sorry for the slow reply, only just returned to this forum. Wheelchair access is very difficult for the villas on my site, as the whole urbanisation is built into the side of a fairly steep hill, and consequently I think all of them have steps or stairs. Feel free to have a browse around the site to see if you think there is anything suitable, but if the wheelchair is a necessity rather than an aid, I don't think I can help you, so sorry.
