FPuser98 -> Design View Glitches in FP 2003 (7/17/2009 15:18:02)

When working in Design View in FP 2003, I often will add and then delete things such as borders, backgrounds, code from ads, etc. A good 20 percent of the time, FP appears to allow me to delete the borders, backgrounds or ads, but when I look in Split view, the code for the border, backround or ad is still there and I have to manually remove it from Code view. This is always dangerous for me because I don't really know HTML and sometimes delete too much.

Ads inserted at the top of a column, for example, almost never erase properly. I work around it by inserting some text before the ad, but I'd rather not do that.

Does anyone else have this problem, and is there a way to get Design View to work better?

I'm familiar with that kind of thing in cases where content has been copy/pasted from a Word document. That will almost always cause trouble.

If that's not the case here then I might be able to figure it out if you could post the url of a page that has this problem.

Thanks for your response. I think I've manually removed all the extraneous code.

I don't cut and paste from Word. The problem with ad code typically occurs when inserting Google Adsense code using the Control Q shortcut feature. I may later remove the ad in Design View, only to find partial or complete code still on the page. This will cause problems with display if I don't remove it by hand in Code view.

The problems with borders and backgrounds seems to be coming directly from FrontPage. I will include a border, then remove it later on. It appears as those I've done so, but partial borders appear when published, and I will have to manually remove the code for it to remove the partial border.

I've noticed extra backgrounds when both would load with the page, one at a time. I went to Code View and saw that the first background didn't delete when I switched to a new background. Very strange.
