Tailslide -> RE: Frontpage Website & Mac (8/5/2009 3:47:44)

There are people here much more informed than I am (and so hopefully they'll correct me if I'm wrong!!). If you get a Mac with a dual boot system (bootcamp - http://www.apple.com/macosx/what-is-macosx/compatibility.html ) you'll be able to run XP or Vista on the mac. The problem as I see it is that FrontPage is no longer available for sale, far as I know. MS dumped support for it. So as MS only give licences for software for a single machine you'd have to buy new software. MS now offer Expressions as a replacement for FrontPage although from reading posts in this forum it sounds quite different and a bit of a learning curve for FPers. You could, therefore in theory, buy Expressions and load that onto your mac to use under Windows. You could also buy Dreamweaver or use any of the free HTML editors in either Mac OS or Windows OS. You could download your current site via Expressions or FTP onto your mac and edit it using any piece of software you like but it wouldn't be the same as using FP. Probably Expressions will be the closest thing to FP but I'd ensure you check it will work under dual boot before buying it!
