Adsense way down - 8/6/2009 23:00:16
My Adsense revenue has gone WAY down in recent months and it only seems to get worse by the month. I'm earning half of what I was getting last year IF I'm lucky. My daily totals for last month were abysmal. Is anyone else finding this? I'm baffled. Even my highest revenue pages are way down, and sometimes seem dead for days on end although the traffic and ad impressions remain consistent. I'm puzzled why it's so out of whack. I figured it was just the economic times at first, but now I'm wondering if this is (more) unique to my particular niche or if revenue is down all over.

May I ask, 'What category are your ads in?' What are you selling?

The future. :) Astrology is the category.

Should have guessed that from your name Starhugger. :)

I would hazard a guess that people are now worried more about their jobs then the stars.

I think that's true. I just didn't think the advertising would go down SO much though. Everyone reads their horoscope. :) It's a low-paying Adsense category at the best of times, though, and maybe commercial sites are finding that even fewer people than usual are prepared to pay for astrology. I know I've had to come up with some creative ways to tailor my services to people in a way they can afford.

I'd still like to hear if others are finding if Adsense revenues are up, down or the same for them. What's been your experience, Don?

None of my sites use adsense. They are all self sustaining.

Lucky you, Don. :)

Thanks for the confirmation, Thomas. I've heard from a colleague in the same category that theirs is way down too. I guess we'll just have to tread water until this all blows over.

Companies are spending less on advertisement which is having an impact on Adsense income. Google can't earn less money with their responsibility to shareholders so.... they turn a dial and we make pennies on the dollar. My Adsense income is also down across dozens of sites.

Yep--their motto of "Do no evil" is not the same as "Don't lose money!"

They have a motto of "Do no evil"?? Hmmm.... As you say, "Lose no money" is more like it. I was already getting pennies on the dollar. :)
