.css template help...please - 8/7/2009 0:55:23
I am using the following template to build a website.

http://www.linktemplate.com/Templates/Html/Orange/3287.html

I unzipped the file to the desktop and created a root directory and then created a new website. To see if everything was setup correctly, I uploaded the all the files to my school's netstorage account and pulled up the page using my site address. Everything worked okay. The template was right and all the text and images were there.

Then, I edited one of the tabs (specifically, I change "Products" to "Events"), saved the index.html and synchronized the files again. This is where the problem happens.

Now, when I navigate to the page, instead of displaying the index file in the browser, the browser comes up with a dialog asking if I want to save "index.html" or open with a program. If I open it with Mozilla/ie/chrome, only the text comes and no template.

If I replace the edited index.html file with the original from the .rar archive, everything works fine again. I have no idea what is going on here.

I would really appreciate any help in this matter.

------
I'm using Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 and Mozilla Firefox 3.5 in Windows Vista. The website is hosted from my school's NetStorage and my domain is from GoDaddy.

Can you post a link to your version of the template online as it's easier to diagnose problems when we can see the code live.

Shouldn't be an issue if you just replaced the link <a href="products.html"> Products</a> with <a href="events.html">Events</a> in the code. Were you typing directly into the code?

Thanks for the quick reply.

The edited file is hosted at:

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/patel91/www/metamorph_yoga/index2.html

The original file that works properly is at:

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/patel91/www/metamorph_yoga/index.html

I made the changes directly into the code using Dreamweaver CS4.
I also made changes from the "Design" window and the result was the same.

Very peculiar. Usually when this sort of problem arises it's because of some php server issue - that doesn't apply here though.

I opened the source code for the page that FF wants to download in IE and then copied it and uploaded it to my server. Same code.

TEST PAGE

It opens fine in FF but the original link you posted doesn't... freaky.

All I can suggest is to copy/paste the source from my site and paste it back in and try again...

man...get this.

i downloaded your test page from mozilla and saved it to the root directory. (it created a new page called "test.html" and a new folder called "test_files")

I uploaded that to the server and it works...i can navigate to it and it'll display properly.

I then changed "Support" to "Photos" and bamm... the problem is back. it won't load again.

Maybe its my computer? or security settings? i have no clue here. completely and utterly lost.

i need some major help!!
