nav bar changes won't take - 8/21/2009 7:07:38
Somehow I accidently changed the way the navigation bar is set up.

I'm trying to change them back to the way I want it, Child level with home and parent checked. I keep getting ALL page buttons on the nav bar.

I save all my changes; but when in Preview, I still get "this page contains elements that need to be saved or published to preview correctly". In the 'normal' view, my page displays the way I want it to and it also displays the same way in preview. But when I publish it, it won't display properly. I publish using 'publish all pages, overwriting...'

How do I get my changes to take effect?

Please post a link to your website that has the problem.

Do you mean to say that you get all page buttons on each page. I only see all page buttons on the home page. Normally you want all menu buttons on each page so that your viewers can go to any page they want without going back to the home page.

Did you create that menu in FP? It looks like a javascript menu to me.

I only used frontpage 2000.

I used to get the main menu links on the home page only. there are three sub pages that should only show up on the services page but instead are showing up on the home page. the three links that appear next to 'home' should only show up on the services page. the pages display the way I want them to in the "normal" view and also in the "preview".

When you open the web from your hard drive in Frontpage try the recalculate links button.

I've tried everything I can think of...still no joy.

I don't want ALL my navigation buttons on the front page.

Still hoping for a solution. it worked fine for a while and I don't know what changed. The frontpage software displays it the way I want but it doesn't display that way on the net. what's going on?

Thanks

A good reason not to use FP themes and nav.

However, it looks like your hidden files are not being published. Have you looked at those files that have a underline preceding them. One of those files contains the code for your nav menu. Take a look at the dates for the one on your hard drive and compare it with the one on the web. You may need to use a ftp program to see the ones on the web.
