Lunascape, the all in one browser - 8/31/2009 9:25:59
This is an all-in-one browser, called Lunascape — an appropriate name, because it has arisen out of the blue. It originated in Japan, where it has a substantial following and sizable installed base. The three supported engines are Internet Explorer's Trident, Firefox's Gecko, and WebKit — which is used by Safari and Chrome.

Lunascape may be downloaded from the vendor's site. The initial download is 8.42MB, plus additional downloads for the Gecko and WebKit engines, if required.

I have since found out that Safari and Chrome are forks of webkit but different in their own rights... lunascape tests using the safari engine, not the chrome engine.
Rats...looks like I am stuck with the standalone browsers still (not counting the multiple IE's) :)

Hmmmm....looks interesting. A word of warning though...my AV (Comodo) is picking up a virus when I try to install it - "Backdoor.Win32.Hupigon~XLB@37751067" (filename 'LunaSetup514en_u.exe') - proceed with caution!

The file "LunaSetup514en_full_u.exe" available for download from this page though seems to be clean (scanned with both Comodo Anti-virus, and Malwarebytes).

Had it for years Dave, thanks. :) There is another one for Opera too.
Thanks for the warning Womble, would you believe that from the manufacturer's site?

I guess it could be a false positive (though usually Comodo's pretty accurate). Unfortunately I didn't try scanning it with Malwarebytes before I quarantined it with Comodo. Malwarebytes is usually spot on though, so if MB says the other file's okay I tend to trust it.

Not really had a chance to have a play around with it yet, but visually it's very much like the default Firefox. Some nice little bookmarklets - might be worth a play with.

(Though I've just discovered that Firefox, which I ditched in favour of Chrome apart from for testing because Firefox was getting too damned unstable, now has a Chrome theme, so at least I can pretend it's still nicely behaved like Chrome :))
