different logo in print style sheet - 9/3/2009 8:08:11
imagine you have a business logo and the screen version is a smallish jpeg/gif AND a 24-bit png *print* version that is display:none in your screen sheet but then in your print stylesheet is set to display and say it's 4 times the filesize. are both logos loaded when the page loads before touching the print dialogue??

In my sites - yep both images are there in the HTML just either shown/hidden according to which stylesheet is being read at the time.

There might be some clever way of getting round this - but I haven't come across it yet (not that it doesn't exist if you see what I mean!).

We sometimes send users off to a separate print page and use the "rel" tag to that page when they hit the print button in the browser. Works best when the pages are in a database of course but all of our sites now have some sort of CMS so that's usually not an issue.
